Help when a senior is in pain, not sleeping, or just not themself
If your parent or loved one is in pain, not sleeping, anxious, or slipping away from daily life, it can feel as if nothing is working and no one is really in charge.
The CED Clinic team step in as medical partners for your loved one and for you. We review diagnoses, manage medications and supplements, look for unsafe combinations or missed opportunities, and build a calm, realistic plan that fits your loved one as a whole person.
We help with pain, sleep, mood, appetite, agitation, and complex decisions in the later chapters of life. When it is appropriate, we may also include carefully guided medical cannabis, with clear dosing and product guidance. Cannabis is never required and never the only tool. The focus is on what will safely help your loved one feel more like themself.
If you are caring for or supporting an older adult and feel overwhelmed, unsure what to try next, or worried about medication side effects, we can help you sort through the noise and share the load.
After you reach out, we review what you share and follow up to schedule a focused visit. With your loved one’s permission, we can work directly with them, or with both the patient and their caregiver, by telehealth or in person when available.
You can also scroll to the full intake form embedded below and complete everything on this page, or start with a brief message and we will guide you from there.
Is this you?
Many families find us when they are already exhausted and not sure what else to try. If the points below feel familiar, you are in the right place.
-
💬
You are the one who keeps track of appointments, medications, and new symptoms, and it feels like you are doing it with very little help.
-
🕒
You spend too much time waiting for answers from a system that is slow, rushed, or dismissive, while your loved one is still in pain or distress.
-
💊
You are worried about too many medications, confusing supplements, or side effects that make your loved one feel less like themself.
-
🌙
Sleep, mood, appetite, or agitation are real problems, and you do not see a clear plan that fits your loved one as a whole person.
-
⚖️
You are tired of feeling that you might be missing something important, but you do not have the time or training to run the entire medical show.
What the CED clinic team can take off your plate
Our work is built around one simple idea. You should not have to carry the full burden of managing complex medical care for an older adult, especially when that care involves pain, worry, and a system that is hard to navigate.
Medication management and medical guidance
-
📋
Structured medication and supplement management to reduce risks, simplify complicated regimens, and flag drug–drug interactions or duplications.
-
🧭
Primary care style consultations that make sense of the big picture, not just one symptom at a time.
-
🤝
Coordination with existing clinicians where appropriate, so you are not the only one trying to connect the dots.
-
🧠
Talk based visits to process fear, grief, confusion, or difficult choices around advanced illness or aging.
Evidence informed options, including cannabis
-
🌿
Thoughtful use of medical cannabis when it is appropriate, with dosing and product guidance grounded in evidence and real world experience, not guesswork.
-
😌
Support for pain, sleep, anxiety, appetite, agitation, and neuropathy using approaches that respect the senior brain and body.
-
🔄
Careful planning for how cannabis fits alongside other medications, rather than replacing one problem with another.
-
📞
Ongoing care options for regular check ins, or single visits when you need a second opinion or a fresh set of eyes.
If you are the one being cared for
You might be the one reading this. If so, you may feel that a lot of decisions are being made around you, often without enough time or explanation. You might be in pain, not sleeping, or feeling like no one is really listening.
In every visit, you are the central person in the room. We will talk with you directly, at your pace, and we will explain our thinking in plain language. The goal is not to sedate you or quiet you. The goal is to help you feel more like yourself again, in a way that respects your values and your limits.
Senior specific issues we see often
Over the years we have cared for many older adults and their families. Some of the most common concerns we work on together include:
-
🩺
Chronic pain, arthritis, back pain, and neuropathy that are not well controlled or come with heavy side effects.
-
🌙
Insomnia, restless nights, and daytime fatigue that affect mood, thinking, and quality of life.
-
💭
Anxiety, worry, or agitation, especially around procedures, new diagnoses, or memory changes.
-
🍽️
Low appetite, weight loss, or disordered eating patterns in the setting of illness or medications.
-
💊
Too many medications and supplements, confusing instructions, or conflicting recommendations from different clinicians. This is often where careful medication management with a fresh set of eyes makes a real difference.
-
🧩
Cognitive changes, mood shifts, or behavior changes that have not been clearly explained or addressed.
One time consults and ongoing care
Families come to us with different needs. Some want a single, focused visit to review a complex situation. Others prefer an ongoing relationship, so they are not left alone every time something changes.
One time and second opinion visits
-
🔍
Clarifying diagnoses, what they mean, and what options are realistic at this stage of life.
-
📑
Reviewing medication lists for safety, interactions, and opportunities to simplify when appropriate.
-
🧪
Giving a fair, evidence informed perspective on cannabis and other therapies that may not have been explained well.
Ongoing support for seniors and caregivers
-
📆
Regular check ins weekly, every other week, or monthly, adjusted to the needs of the family.
-
📞
Support during new symptoms, medication changes, or hospital visits, so you are not deciding alone.
-
🌱
Fine tuning of treatment plans, including cannabis when used, to keep the focus on comfort, clarity, and dignity.

Patient with neuropathic pain
This page is written for family members and loved ones who are caring for or supporting a senior. If you are a clinician or organization looking to refer patients, a dedicated information page for providers is in development.
Give the Gift of Care
Every day we meet caregivers doing everything they can with limited support. Many are tending to a parent with dementia, a partner in chronic pain, or a loved one who has begun to withdraw from daily life. Some postpone medical help because the cost feels out of reach.
If you believe that no family should navigate the hardest chapters of aging alone, you can make an immediate difference through the
CED Access Fund.
Your contribution directly sponsors visits for seniors or caregivers who would otherwise go without care. Even a single sponsored appointment can bring relief, clarity, and a sense of steady ground beneath someone who has been struggling for too long.
How to get started
There are three simple ways to begin. Choose the path that feels easiest right now. You do not need a perfect summary or all the records in hand. After you reach out, we gather a bit more detail, then arrange a focused visit where we meet with your loved one, or with both of you together, and map out next steps.
