A Brief Intervention for Cannabis Use
| Trial ID | NCT06395389 |
| Status | Recruiting |
| Condition | Cannabis Use Disorder |
| Intervention | Health Education (HealthEdu) |
Cannabis use disorder affects nearly 3 million emerging adults annually, yet evidence-based brief interventions remain limited for this critical developmental period. This trial addresses a significant gap in scalable, age-appropriate cannabis treatment options when early intervention could prevent progression to severe dependency.
This randomized controlled trial compares two brief interventions for potentially problematic cannabis use in emerging adults aged 18-25. The study employs a rigorous design with two 40-50 minute sessions separated by one week, followed by assessments at post-intervention, 1-month, and 3-month intervals. Biological validation through salivary THC and CBD testing accompanies self-report measures at all four timepoints. The trial is currently recruiting participants for this Phase II behavioral intervention study.
“If positive, this trial could provide me with evidence-based brief intervention protocols specifically validated for emerging adults with cannabis use concerns. Having structured, time-limited interventions with demonstrated efficacy would significantly enhance my ability to offer targeted early intervention before patterns become entrenched.”
