Erin Caplan, NP
CED Clinic · Pediatric Family Support
A steady partner for the questions that come up between visits.
Erin Caplan, NP works directly with families who want more than a scheduled appointment: an on-call clinical partner who already knows your child, and who helps you carry a plan forward over time.
Some families want a clinician who already knows their child’s history, who can be reached when a new question comes up, and who helps carry a plan forward, not just a single appointment on the calendar.

The Role
A nurse practitioner who becomes part of your care team.
Erin is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a master’s-level medical education from Simmons. Her clinical background includes both inpatient and outpatient primary care at Massachusetts General Hospital, Hyde Park Pediatrics, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she worked with some of the most fragile and clinically complex pediatric patients.
She brings that same rigor to ongoing, collaborative support for families outside the hospital setting: helping you understand what’s happening with your child, weigh the options in front of you, and stay on top of a plan as it evolves.
Erin does not replace your child’s pediatrician or specialists. She works alongside them, and alongside Dr. Caplan, so that the people caring for your child are working from the same picture.
Why This Exists
The space between appointments is often where the most important questions live: whether a new symptom is worth worrying about, whether a dose adjustment makes sense before the next scheduled visit, or simply who to call when something changes and the answer isn’t obvious.
Erin’s role is to close that space, so your family isn’t holding those questions alone until the next appointment.

How It Works
You don’t need a fully organized case to begin.
The first step is simply telling us what’s going on. From there, Erin builds an ongoing structure around your family.
Getting started
A short intake covering your child’s history, current concerns, and what kind of support you’re looking for.
A direct line to Erin
You get a way to reach her directly, with a response within 2 hours of a request.
Ongoing collaboration
Up to 3 calls per week, guaranteed for the year, to work through decisions, questions, and adjustments as they come up, not just at scheduled visits.
Quarterly review
A structured check-in on how your child’s plan is progressing and what, if anything, should change going forward.
What This Is Not
Clear boundaries, stated plainly.
Erin’s role is easier to understand when it’s equally clear what she does not provide.
Common Questions
A few things families ask
Does this replace my child’s regular pediatrician?
No. Erin works alongside your child’s existing pediatrician and specialists, not in place of them, and coordinates with Dr. Caplan when cannabis-based care is part of the plan.
What counts as a “call” during the week?
Any check-in with Erin, whether that’s a new question, a dosing concern, or working through a decision together, up to 3 times per week as part of your family’s plan.
