CĒD Clinic Pediatrics
Pediatric Care Built for Your Family
Compassionate, evidence-grounded care for children and adolescents. Two paths, one standard of excellence: ongoing collaboration on your child’s health, or medical cannabis care guided by clinical expertise.
Some families want more than a scheduled appointment: they want a clinician who already knows their child’s history, who can be reached when a new question comes up, and who helps carry a plan forward over time.
Built for exhausted parents who need quick clarity without reading walls of clinical text. Tap simple Apple-style visual buttons (Sleep, Meltdowns, Food, Tics, School) to see where your child fits among peers, uncover the biological causes, and choose clear next steps.
Clinical Scope & Indications
Common Pediatric Struggles & Diagnoses Considered for Cannabinoid Care
Medical cannabis is never a first-line therapy for pediatric patients. In our practice, targeted cannabinoid medicine is considered strictly when a child or adolescent continues to struggle with severe, refractory symptoms that have failed to respond to standard behavioral, educational, and medical interventions, or when conventional pharmaceuticals produce intolerable adverse effects. Clinical oversight is intense, frequent, and conservative.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Explosive behavioral meltdowns, aggression, self-injurious behavior (SIB), chronic 2:00 AM sleep fragmentation, sensory overload, and severe expressive communication frustration across childhood and adolescence.
Screeners & Triage
Sort out what is driving a behavior
Medical Team & Treatment
Appointments, medications, co-management
Home & Family
Routines, caregiver support, real stories
School, Safety & Legal
IEP, safety planning, MA certification
Pediatric Sleep Disorders & Chronic Insomnia
Chronic split-night waking, 2:00 AM agitation, rapid melatonin burnout, and severe sleep maintenance failure that derails daytime behavioral resilience.
Complex Neurobehavior & Severe Meltdowns
Acute fight-or-flight panics, property destruction, biting, and explosive aggression spanning the diagnostic boundary between DMDD, ODD, PDD-NOS, ADHD stimulant rebound crashes, and silent somatic agony.
Rare Neurogenetic Syndromes & Seizures
Fragile X (FMR1), Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC1/2), Angelman (UBE3A), Dup15q, Rett syndrome (MECP2), and intractable pediatric epilepsy failing multiple standard anticonvulsants.
Pediatric Oncology & Complex Palliative Care
Refractory chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), profound cancer cachexia/weight loss, vincristine-induced neuropathic pain, and restful sleep co-managed with pediatric oncology teams.
Why This Exists
The Reality Most Families Face
Families navigating complex pediatric symptoms are routinely told to wait: wait for a specialist, wait for an appointment that may be eight months away, wait for a 15-minute visit where there is barely time to cover the basics. Questions in between are left to triage portals, emergency rooms, or the parent’s own exhausting research.
We built this practice to offer something different: a real clinician on your team, available when things are uncertain, helping you make sense of the full picture and make decisions with confidence.
How We Help
What We Do
On-call guidance, for as long as you want it, with a response within 2 hours.
An expert on your team to help you understand the options, weigh alternatives, and partner on the decisions in front of you.
An ally who bridges the gaps in communication and understanding, between family members, or between care systems that don’t seem to connect.
Support that moves with you, wherever you are, whenever you need it.
For busy or overwhelmed families who want an expert on their team, on the go, we are here for you and your child.
Family Health Collaboration
A physician relationship that goes beyond a single visit
CED Clinic offers two ways into that relationship, depending on what your family needs.
Erin Caplan, NP
Erin works directly with families who want an ongoing partner in their child’s care, not just a scheduled visit. Her support is available daily and guaranteed by the year: up to three calls per week, with a quarterly review of how your child’s plan is progressing.
After each check-in, you’ll have a clear, current picture of the plan, so you know what changed, why, and what comes next.
For cannabis-based treatment, Erin works closely with Dr. Caplan to select the right products, dosing, and course of care, and follows each case meticulously, adjusting as your child responds.
- ✓ On-call support, with a response within 2 hours of a request
- ✓ Up to 3 calls per week, guaranteed for the year
- ✓ Quarterly review of your child’s care and progress

Benjamin Caplan, MD
Dr. Caplan takes on a limited number of complex pediatric cases directly, particularly where standard approaches have not worked or the picture has outgrown a single appointment.
These personal consultations follow the same model as his Private Physician Advisory practice: one physician holding the larger clinical view across specialists and records, helping a family slow down, understand the medical reality, and clarify the choices in front of them.
- ✓ Case review across records, specialists, and current clinicians
- ✓ A clear advisory plan: what to ask, who to involve, what to verify
- ✓ A private written summary you can take with you and revisit

Pediatric Medical Cannabis
Evidence-based, closely monitored care
Medical cannabis can be an appropriate option for certain pediatric conditions when it is guided by clinical expertise and close follow-up. For families navigating autism spectrum conditions, we also maintain a dedicated Pediatric Autism Clinical Roadmap. Care is built around your family at every step, from choosing a product to adjusting the plan as your child responds.
- ✓ Careful product selection, dosing, and titration, refined as we learn how your child responds
- ✓ Ongoing monitoring of response and safety
- ✓ Adjustments grounded in evidence and clinical observation, not guesswork
- ✓ Meticulous, supportive follow-through from Erin Caplan, NP, in coordination with Dr. Caplan
