Getting Started

Overview of the Massachusetts medical process: after your visit with CED Clinic’s healthcare provider, the medical component of your card (the doctor “certification”) is complete. Massachusetts also requires a brief online application so the state can mail you a plastic license, which gives you access to MA dispensaries (and others offering reciprocity) for 365 days. Both parts, the doctor visit and the state registration, must be renewed annually; [pediatric patients](/pediatrics/), biannually.

## New Patients

### 1. Visit the CCC Patient Gateway

Visit [patient.massciportal.com](https://patient.massciportal.com/) and select the box indicating you are a newly certified patient creating an account for the first time.

### 2. Confirm Registration Details

Complete the state registration following the online instructions (your PIN code will be emailed to you by CED Clinic after your appointment). Have your proof of residency and photo of yourself already scanned and formatted, as this is a time-sensitive process.

### 3. Print Your Card

After your application is approved, log back into the Patient Portal to print a paper card if you need it. This can be used at all dispensaries until the plastic license arrives in the mail. If your card from last year is still valid, completing these steps should automatically prompt a new card to be mailed by the state.

## Renewing Patients

### 1. Visit the CCC Patient Gateway

If this is your first entry into the new system, click the box indicating you’re a renewing patient but new to this system, then click “Claim Account” where appropriate.

### 2. Confirm Registration Details

After claiming your account, log in to complete a brief review of your [Cannabis Control Commission](https://cedclinic.com/massachusetts-cannabis-industry-shawn-collins-impact/) application profile, so the state can reissue your plastic license for this year. You’ll receive an email from “CCC” confirming your registration is complete.

### 3. Print Your Card

After confirmation, log back into the Patient Portal to print a paper card if you need it. This can be used at all dispensaries until the plastic license arrives in the mail.

## Pediatric Patients

### 1. Visit the CCC Patient Gateway

Go to the [patient login page](https://patient.massciportal.com/mmj-patient/login), scroll to “Parents, Legal Guardians and Caregivers of Pediatric Patients,” and select the box matching your status as new or renewing.

### 2. Confirm Registration Details

Complete the state registration following the online instructions (the new patient PIN code will be emailed by CED Clinic after your appointment). Have proof of MA residency, photos of yourself and the patient, plus a document proving parent or legal guardianship (birth certificate or proof of adoption) ready.

### 3. Print Your Card

After confirmation, log back into the Patient Portal to print a paper card if you need it.

If you are unable to register online, a more lengthy paper registration process is available. Call [(833) 869-6820](tel:+18338696820) to request a paper registration form.
